About me

MIHAELA NASTASE

As a designer, I always had a deep thirst for new creative projects. Starting on this path in my teen years I found myself many times excited by a new tool, a new technique or the meaning of a new symbol I might have discovered.

Learning how to utilize the newest technologies while understanding the old traditional ways of creative expression is one of my oldest passions. Yet another “younger” one surfaced after my children came into my life and I noticed how much I enjoy passing my knowledge to them … and their friends … and the friends of their friends …

Having this in mind I created a space where there’s always something new to learn, to create and enjoy, a space dedicated to art, design, children and nature.

My helpers

Octavian Nastase

OCTAVIAN NASTASE

my life and work partner

Tavi is the helping hand behind each wooden project in my shop. Always supportive of my ideas, he is quick to contribute whatever he can to bring what I envision to life. We started this journey more than 30 years ago, and countless times we found ourselves working together on creative projects. He is my blessing.

Maria Ianosel

MARIA IANOSEL

mama

Mama, a caring soul with “golden hands” as my grandmother would say, she can make a dry stick bloom and grow roots. The willow tree planted in my backyard, which became the main source of wood for my wooden toys, is proof of that. Even more, if there is anything that can be done by hand, she’ll make it.

Ana Nastase

ANA NASTASE

the multitalented one

Ana is the reason I started to teach art to little kids. She was so thirsty to absorb any new skill that waiting to grow up in order to have the proper age for it was never an option. The moment she mastered it, she was ready to help me teach it to other kids. At age 9 she became Miss Ana and accompanied me to my art classes as a helper. To my delight, although less often, she still helps out with my classes.

Luca Nastase

LUCA NASTASE

the bright and kind one

Luca was my first art student and a member of my inaugural art class. As an adult, art no longer holds a prominent place in his life, yet he unfailingly extends a helping hand when I need it. He’s my go-to for text edits while balancing a demanding schedule filled with academic pursuits and sports, yet consistently making time for me and my writings.

tata

Although nobody else in my family chose an artistic path in life, I was always surrounded by people who had the ability to build/make things with their own hands. My dad was one of them. Very meticulous, he found himself many times building something around the house. He is the one who helped my husband bring the first wooden tree to life. This tree is, to this day, a part of my art classes.
