A WILLOW STORY
(the origin of these ornaments)

One day my mom placed a couple of willow branches in a vase. We kept them inside for a while and then she decided to place them outside in the ground in a corner of my little backyard. She said they were from church and didn’t want to throw them away because they were blessed. We left them there and did nothing about it. They already had little buds and soon enough some leaves started to form.

We were smiling at her skills with the plants and the fact that even if she put a couple of sticks in the ground they will bloom and make flowers. That’s pretty much what happened with those branches. The next year they became stronger and we decided to keep just one. That one little branch turned into a beautiful willow tree that keeps growing and not only provides us with shade and privacy from neighbours but it’s also an amazing source of wood. Once in a while my husband trims it and what’s left is used for all kinds of creative projects. This is one of them. Enjoy!
